RAEcycle WEEE treatment facility
It will be likely the most technologically advanced facility in Italy and the only managed directly by a collective scheme representing virtuous producers who, since the beginning, despite of economic and administrative burdens, endorsed the real control on quality treatment operations on their WEEE.
Our philosophy is clear and coherent: does it make sense to invest in WEEE recovery if recovery operations are not environmentally sound in terms of energy savings and CO2 emissions and they impact more than WEEE incineration? It will be just a falsehood.
On the contrary, the facility belonging to our collective scheme is not only provided with most advanced technology available on the market (i.e. German patents of WEEE treatment appliances tested since many years which ensure the highest quality and percentage of recovered raw material), but also it has the lowest environmental impact as wished by our producers for whom the environment is not a mere obligation but a challenging top priority.
For these reasons, the facility is provided with 150 kWh solar panels which hopefully will be completed with a wind generators as to reach the zero emissions target.
The location was also strategically chosen: we intended to ensure that WEEE and raw material logistics are performed on railway, since road transportation would not have been consistent with our environmental concern. That is why the facility is located near railway lines as to provide a track within the facility for the delivery of goods (incoming WEEE and out coming raw material recovered). Transparency in a critic sector as that of waste is a top priority: that is why all the WEEE treatment operations phases in our facility will be publicly accessible thorough webcam. Have you ever heard about other domestic collective schemes with such features?

Each final user when buying an EEE pay a so called “visible fee” for the financing of collection, transportation, treatment and recovery operations. Then the consumer should have the right to know where the money goes. With RAEcycle he can see and he can know it, and this could make the difference in choosing a specific product and/or a trade marks.
That is why when the consumer buy a product placed on the market by a producer joining RAEcycle and its environmental project, he knows that he is supporting that producer to pursuit excellence in each life cycle phase of its products.
More companies will become virtuous joining RAEcycle, more it will be possible to build other two facilities in 2009 and 2010 as to cover all the national territory and lower the logistic impact deriving from having only one facility.
